Lamports to SOL converter

This lamports to SOL converter keeps lamports, SOL and USD linked: edit any one and the other two update. A second block turns micro-lamports per compute unit into a fee in lamports. You can link a value with ?lamports=N or ?sol=N.

How it works

What a lamport is

A lamport is the smallest unit of SOL. One SOL is 1,000,000,000 lamports. Programs, fees and rent are all counted in lamports, so the page treats the lamport count as the source of truth.

Where the USD price comes from

The page asks for the SOL price once when it loads, from a public market feed through this site. The price is not refreshed while the page is open, so reload to update it. If the feed is down, USD shows as price unavailable and lamports and SOL stay linked.

Rounding rules

Lamports are whole numbers. A SOL entry with more than 9 decimals is rounded to the nearest lamport, and a USD entry is converted at the loaded price and rounded the same way. The SOL text is built from the integer lamport count, so 0.1 SOL is exactly 100,000,000 lamports with no floating point drift.

Micro-lamports in fee math

A priority fee is priced in micro-lamports per compute unit. Multiply by the compute units and you get micro-lamports. One million micro-lamports make one lamport, and the charged fee rounds up to a whole lamport.

Questions about this tool

How many lamports are in one SOL?

One SOL is 1,000,000,000 lamports. One lamport is 0.000000001 SOL.

Why is the USD box empty?

The USD box needs a live SOL price. If the price feed did not respond, the box is disabled and says price unavailable. Lamports and SOL still convert.

Why does a fee round up?

The priority fee is compute unit limit times price in micro-lamports, divided by one million, then rounded up to a whole lamport. A small price on a small limit can therefore still cost one lamport.

Is the 890,880 lamport figure fixed?

It is the rent-exempt minimum for a 0-byte account at the documented default rate. The live rate is read from the chain, so check the rent calculator for current numbers.
